Question by Rachael R: Games at a Baby Shower with more than 50 Guests?
We need a couple of games that aren’t too difficult, about 50 people will be playing these games, so hopefully we can break them up into teams. Got any ideas that are simple and based on teams?

Onesie Pictures – Buy packets of onesies that total the number of guests you’ll have at the shower along with glitter glue and hand them out to your guests. Have everyone draw a picture on the onesies and then have the mom-to-be vote on her favorite. That person wins a prize, and the mom-to-be gets to keep all the onesies.

Advice for Years Ahead -Have every one draw a # from a bowl (as many numbers as there are guests–mom and hostess too starting with 0 for the birth day). The # represented the future age of the baby and give every one a piece of pretty paper and a matching envelope and have then write a letter to the baby at that age. No one is aloud to read it. They were sealed and given to my mom to open on future birthdays. They can included everything from advice to funny stories about the new mommy.

Race to dress & hand the mother her baby – First you must have 2 of each of the following items, live size baby dolls, diapers, blankets, baby hats, baby T- shirt, baby socks, shoes, baby bibs, pants or jumpers., baby bottles or pacifiers, & 2 baskets. You will need a stop watch. Fill the baskets with 1 of each item, and one dolls. Place them at different tables and have each player stand by there basket, set the stop watch at 0, then on your mark say GO. Have 2 players at a time race to dress the dolls have them stand at the same distance from the mother… Player who takes the baby fully dressed and wrapped in it’s blanket and with the bottle to the mother wins, Stop the watch and write her name and time down, then you can do the next 2 players. If you have 10 or more guest and they all want a chance at it then who ever has the less time monitored by you wins. This turns out to be very funny when you see them toss and slam those baby dolls around, to do it as fast as they can!

“Who Am I?” is another fun party game. Before the party, print out a list of famous people. As each guest arrives, pin a name to their back. Their job is to figure out who they are. They can ask each other guest just 3 questions, and they cannot ask a question like “who am I.” The questions must be able to have a “yes” or a “no” answer. When you give instructions, give them some sample questions such as “Am I male or female?” and “Am I dead or alive?”

This next game takes some legwork ahead of time, but is well worth it. Before the shower, ask your guests to bring a baby picture of themselves. Once they arrive, arrange the pictures on a particle board, and label each photo with a number. Provide a sheet that the guests can fill out, trying to match the guest name with the number. The winner (or winners) receive a door prize.

For “The Composer” you will divide everyone into several groups of at least 4 people. Give each group a classic children’s song, such as “I’ve been working on the Railroad,” “home on the range,” “twinkle twinkle,” etc. Each group should rewrite the lyrics to the classic song, with the mom-to-be, her partner, and her baby in mind. After a few minutes, each group should sing their song for the mom-to-be.

Question by plz_yuprvoknofeeln: Suggestions for Baby Shower games besides the most common ones?

Answer by Aiden’s Mommy!
Fill a baby bottle with counted jelly beans or any hard candies. Let the guests guess how many candies are in the bottle. Who ever guesses correctly or close wins the prize! :)

OR… if you want to include the baby’s father. Have everyone write their name & “what they like to do to babies” on a piece of paper. They will either write hug, kisses, play with hair.. etc. Sit the baby’s father in the middle with the girls surrounding him. Then the host will read the guests name & her comment… & that’s what they have to do to the baby’s father! This was done at my baby shower & it was hilarious!!!

my step-mom did my baby shower and it was really cool. when everyone came in she gave them a cup of ice with a frozen baby in it and she told everyone that at the end of the shower whose ever baby melts the most wins, so they had to try and get it to melt (it was funny what some people were doing)

Another game was the diaper poop game where you put different kinds of chocolate in the diapers and you get in groups and figure out what kind of candy it was by smelling or touching or even eating! :)

we also played the baby food game where me and some of my friends were blind-folded and we had to taste of of the baby food and guess what it was.

I also have alot of other ideas when it come to decorating and food, it is still fresh on my mind b/c my son is only 10 months, hope this helps!

Question by : Baby questions? 6 month old?
Hi I’m just wondering about a few things I am a 19 yr old father.
My baby is bottle fed iron enriched formula. When can I stop feeding him this?
Also, when can I start on solids and how many jars of baby food or rice cereal should he eat a day?
Also, is it normal to eat more than 3 8oz bottles a day?

His next needle is July 21t so I’ll bring up these questions to his doctor then but Im just curious if we’re doing things right. Thank you.

Formula should be used until at least one year old. A baby that age generally needs to eat at least every 3-4 hours when awake. They can go longer at night, sometimes up to 10 or 11 hours, but it depends on the baby. If he says he is hungry then feed him. You can start solids, but you need to start very slowly. You can give whole grain rice cereal or oatmeal. Make it very thin with some formula, and feed by spoon. Give only about a tablespoon at most. If he accepts it and does well, then the next day you can try a little more. You can try pureed veggies or fruits as well, just a tablespoon at one feeding. Watch him for any signs that he has developed any allergies to any foods – rashes, redness around the mouth, etc. And don’t introduce more than one new food at a time, waiting a few days in between new foods. As he gets better at eating you can increase the amount of food. Let him tell you when he is done. If he stops opening his mouth or turns away then he is done.
